Fall Of Icarus

This painting by Pieter Brueghel the Elder in the 1950's. It is done via oil on canvas and this painting is his depiction and perspective of the Greek story of how Icarus' father constructed wings for him in order to escape from Crete, who was instructed not to fly too close to the sun. However he does and his wings of wax melted and caused him to fall to his death. I think this piece is brilliant because it shows how "tragedies" always occur during life, however, the world will continue, regardless of whatever happens to individuals, because the painting is mainly focused on the man plowing the fields more than on Icarus.
