Theodore Gericault

This drawing is titled "The Black Standard Bearer" by Theodore Gericault. This drawing was created in 1818 and is mainly of pencil and black chalk. As shown in the text the subject was drawn from exemplary acts of courage during the Napoleonic Wars. Gericault has used blacks and whites to create a high contrast drawing. I partciularly like this drawing because it is very powerful and strong and I like how the artist portrayed the man in chaos but also seems confident to carry on with the battle.
